Meet the Candidates

President Elect

Amanda Margiotta

Name:  Carrie Nielsen

Credentials:  MS, RD, LMNT

Current Employer:  Boys Town National Research Hospital

Areas of expertise/practice:  Specialty Pediatrics, including neurology, gastroenterology, nutrition support, weight management

Professional Experience:

Throughout my 20+ year career as a dietitian, I have worked with patients across the lifespan.  Long-term care and home care jobs allowed me to work with the aging population and educate individuals with nutrition-related diagnoses.  My job as a retail dietitian gave me the opportunity to work with a community nutrition focus and provide education in a hands-on environment.  Working with pediatrics in my current position has allowed me to gain additional skills for emerging diseases and diagnoses.  Additionally, I serve as an adjunct nutrition instructor at Nebraska Methodist College where I share my love of learning with their students.  I have also had the opportunity to attend the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health, September 2022 and testified at the Nebraska State Legislature to update our licensure, January 2023.

Professional Affiliations:

What would be one thing you think the membership should know about you?

I am a lifelong learner!  Opportunities to learn or share my knowledge are what keep me going.  My career choice as a dietitian is perfect because our field is forever changing, which keeps me motivated to continue learning each and every day.
