Job Summary:
Provides individualized diabetes self-management education/training to individuals and groups according to the Scope of Practice, Standard of Practice and Standards of professional performance for Diabetes Educators. Experience in various phases of education and teaching methods tailored to patients’ learning needs. Awareness of current concepts of diabetes care. Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with staff, patients, and the public. Collaboratively develops an individualized follow-up care plan with each program participant. Works closely with patients’ physicians. Required in-depth knowledge about current diabetes treatment management, and knowledge of insulin pumps.

Job Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or nutrition/dietetics required

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license OR a Registered Dietitian with their Medical Nutrition Therapist license required

Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) or ability to obtain Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE) required

Current, valid driver’s license issued in the state of legal residence required

Skills/Knowledge Requirements:
Previous clinical and/or healthcare experience preferred

Language Skills – Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language required
