Approval for LMNT Continuing Education

If you are seeking approval for LMNT hours, the following link to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services will provide the necessary forms and information:

Webinar Presentations: Guidelines for CPEU/LMNT Credits

The Commission on Dietetic Registration has provided the following options for offering CPEU credits for dietitians/dietetic technicians who enroll in webinar presentations.

1.      Dietetic practitioners, who view a live webinar that has been approved for CPEUs and LMNT credits, can receive these credits as if they attended the live event. This policy applies to LMNT hours too.

2.      Dietetic practitioners may also meet in a study group to view a recorded webinar. The minimum number of dietetic practitioners required for a study group is three (3). The recorded webinars will have prior approval for CPEU and LMNT credit. This policy applies to LMNT hours too.

3.      A new activity, Activity Type 175, allows dietetic practitioners to receive credit for viewing recorded webinars for up to 15 CPEUs in a recertification cycle (5 years). The recorded presentation must have been prior-approved for credit at the time it was presented live and must be viewed within one (1) year of the original date of the live presentation. This policy applies for LMNT hours too except that the policy allows for 15 hours per two years licensure time period for pre-recorded webinars viewed alone.

For dietetic practitioners who register for the NAND webinars, a Certificate of Attendance will be issued that clearly states that they

1.       Participated in a live webinar OR

2.       Participated in a study group and viewed a record webinar on a specified date OR

3.       Viewed a recorded webinar on a specified date

The new WebEx subscription will identify who viewed the live webinar, so that appropriate certificates can be sent.

Dietetic Practitioners who meet in study groups to view the recorded webinar will need to send the (1) date of the study group and (2) the names of the participating dietetic practitioners to Ann McCarthy so that appropriate certificates can be sent out. All participants who wish to receive a certificate will need to be registered* for the webinar and will need to pay for the webinar through the NAND PayPal account.

Dietetic Practitioners, who view the recorded webinar on their own, will need to send the date of that viewing to Ann McCarthy so that the appropriate certificate can be sent out. Any participant who wishes to receive a certificate will need to be registered* for the webinar and will need to pay for the webinar through the NAND Pay Pal account.

*Registration can only take place when the invitation for a webinar is first issued. If a dietetic practitioner wants to view a recorded webinar and did not register for it initially, he/she will need to contact Ann McCarthy to provide contact information (name, e-mail, phone, member status) so that an invoice for payment can be sent.

If there are questions about how the certificates will be provided, please contact Ann McCarthy at [email protected] .

Thank you.
